Why WAC/A Public Facility
WAC will increase access to swimming for all residents in the Wilmington area with a recreational pool, therapy pool, splash pad and Olympic-size pools. With the capability to host regional and national swim events, WAC will increase sports tourism year-round and have a positive impact on the regional economy. WAC will be a Public facility, No membership required.

Safety - Promotes safety thru water safety classes, swim lessons for children and adults, lifeguard training, and aquatic training of first responders and the military.
Health - Promotes health and fitness through instructional, therapeutic, recreational and competitive swim programs.
Lifestyle - Increases access to swimming and allows all to learn the critical life-skill of swimming. Increases fitness and in-person interactions, decreases screen time and reduces isolation, which fosters healthy lifestyles.
Economic - Creates jobs and economic opportunities during WAC’s construction,
operation and events, and increases business for those servicing WAC events, including hotels, restaurants, shops and airlines.
